Akaleka Melissa OwlEye is a self taught fibre artist who specializes in creating unique, hand-crafted felt creations using all natural fibers that inspire Beauty and Originality. Her gift at blending fibres, colours and textures results in the creation of an original felt material that is nothing less than stunning. Each item is wet felted by hand using environmentally friendly soap. Many of the fibres are hand dyed naturally with natural and organic dyes (i.e. mushrooms, lichen, black walnut) self-harvested from the forests of the Pacific Northwest. The materials that make felt consist of raw fleece fibres such as merino wool, organic romney, silk, alpaca, mohair and bamboo. These fibres are primarily purchased directly from local farmers or at farmers markets.
